Tangled in Shadows from an Old Drawer

Klaudia Figura’s solo exhibition Tangled in Shadows from an Old Drawer critically explores the notion of a “romantic utopia” — a state of longing in which life appears capable of becoming more intense, more meaningful, and more complete than it is within the conditions of contemporary reality. At its core, Romanticism is driven less by fulfillment than by desire itself: by the hope that another way of being is possible beyond a world that often feels insufficient, fragmented, and excessively rationalized. In her latest works, Figura explores moments of uncertainty in which individuals are compelled to make irreversible decisions or confront the consequences of choices already made. Images of abandoned and decaying houses, alongside objects charged with symbolic value, evoke a sense of playfulness shadowed by unease — reminiscent of the moment when a game between siblings unexpectedly ends in someone getting hurt.
